Wagner: Orchestral Music

In 1960, Otto Klemperer's 75th birthday was celebrated in style, partly by the release in a handsome two-LP box of EMI's recordings of the great German-born conductor and Walter Legge's Philharmonia Orchestra in a selection of orchestral excerpts from Wagner's operas.

So successful were these records, that Legge and Klemperer immediately set about recording a third LP (issued in 1962) and the Siegfried-Idyll (released a year later). Now, in this two-CD box, all these Klemperer Wagner recordings are available togther for the first time.
